How to play Category Sprint

Type distinct answers that fit a clearly defined category. Each accepted answer earns one point. Complete three rounds, review the lists and play again whenever you like.

Choose the pace

Timed mode gives you 60 seconds for each round. Relaxed mode removes the clock. Both use the same answer sets and award one point for each different accepted answer. Select the mode before starting a session.

The game selects three categories from a small curated collection. It may ask for planets, particular months, chess piece types or another defined set. Read the condition carefully: the question tells you which version of a category is being used.

Enter an answer

Type one answer and press Enter or the submit button. Letter case and surrounding spaces do not matter. Common spelling variants are accepted where they are listed, such as meter and metre. This is an exact answer-list game, not a language model judging your response.

A duplicate earns no additional point. An unrecognized answer also earns no point, and you can try again. There is no penalty for a wrong guess. If every answer has been found, the round finishes automatically.

Pause or finish a round

Pause stops a timed round while you take a break. Moving to another tab pauses it too. Resume when you are ready. Finish round lets you move on early and inspect the answer list.

The review shows which answers you found and which were missing. Use Next round to continue. After the third review, the session result sums your accepted answers across all three categories.

Read the result fairly

Category Sprint measures recall within its fixed sets. It does not estimate intelligence, general knowledge or how rare an answer is. Every accepted answer has the same value, and there is no live crowd dataset or shared leaderboard.

Timed and relaxed personal bests are stored separately in this browser. Different category combinations can have different numbers of possible answers, so the result also shows the total available. There is no account or cross-device synchronization.

Try a useful recall pattern

For ordered sets, move through the order: planets from the Sun outward, or months through the year. For unordered sets, divide the category into smaller groups. Try changing your method on the next session instead of simply typing faster.
